Satan's SexEd

So, as most of you may know, I just moved from Oklahoma to the Bay Area. My move has changed me in many ways, for once I was but a poor lost redneck who thought even using the word sex was bad, and now I'm part of a polyamorous multi-way relationship of sex-positive... well, I'm not sure of all of their genders or how to refer to them because they all like different pronouns.

Ok, all joking aside, I'm not particularly interested in either of the extremes I just mentioned, and I certainly have my problems with both. I'm happy with how things work for me (usually: in pieces on my workbench), and that's all that matters. However, I never really expected to be exposed to the amount of sex education work that I have been since starting this site, and when I see things like this, it just bolsters my respect for sex educators more, because god damn, this is quite the fight we've got on our hands.

Satan's SexEd. Because sex is wrong and everything about sex is bad and why, oh why do you hate reproducing so much when you're trying to convert people and reproducing is the quickest way to grow your army?

Choice Quotes:
- "Sex is STICKY"
- "great and godly sex starts in the head, before it gets between the legs"
- "our sexuality is satan's easiest door to shame"

Man, I'm so happy I lost all my shame years ago. Everyone needs to wake a buttplug on stage.

So yeah, this is great to laugh at and all, but please, donate to your local sex education non-profit today (for those of us around the bay area, SFSI is a great place to start). It's gonna take a lot of time and a lot of money to undo shit like this.

Conference Schedule for March

Yup, it's that time again.

I'll be around the Game Developer's Conference (parties Tuesday-Thursday, conference Wednesday-Thursday). Look for me at the Sex In Games Roundtables (12:00pm Wednesday or 5:30pm Thursday) or around the expo, most likely at the Linden Lab booth.

Then it's off to SXSW Interactive for another year of Web 2.0 and Blogs and those other hip things. I'm on the Sex and Computational Technology panel at 5:30pm on Sunday, March 11th in Room 9AB. The lineup includes:

Amanda Williams - University of California at Irvine
Violet Blue - Blogger Open Source Sex
Johanna Brewer - University of California at Irvine
Kyle Machulis - Me!
Cory Silverberg - Author & Educator, Come As You Are & About.com

It should be chock full of awesome.

I'll also be hanging at the Linden Lab booth (notice a trend here?) in the Expo, and at pretty much every single party. Yes. All of them.

XBox Video Chat - MS Sanctioned Teledildonics in 2004?

So you'll probably remember the excitement last year over the XBox 360 video chat having vibrating features. However, it looks like Japan beat the US to it by a whole console generation.

I found this while going back through some old links while building the Opendildonics.org TranceVibe article. Apparently there was a video chat released in Japan for the XBox back in late 2004, complete with vibration on trigger button feature.

We're a whole console later, and it still has yet to see the light of day here. Poor US gamers are still stuck holding their controllers to their crotches as their remote significant other whacks them with a rifle butt in an FPS. And you wonder why we're so violence oriented.

One of these things is just like the other

Update: I wasn't insane! Wow! Thanks to the iBuzz people for giving me the info.

So I was all ready to go on and on about I personally thought the iBuzz v2 had better beat reaction than the OhMiBod, even though the press seems to like the OhMiBod way more (or at least, gives it more attention). However, I finally cracked both of them open today, and low and behold, they're pretty much the same damn thing! Both use what looks to be the same board manufacturer (with same microcontroller and power transistor), though there's different versions of each board.

OpenDildonics.org article on the OhMiBod - Uses the ZY-106c v1.2
OpenDildonics.org article on the iBuzz - Uses the ZY-117 v1.2

So, the question now is... Who is producing the ZY-* series boards? I can't find anything on google. Anyone know?

I'm still working on my Audio Vibe article, which will now be about form factors (I'm betting the motor encasement is what is causing the differences I felt.) and community support since I can't really say much on hardware differences.

Remote Control Golf Ball

From our "somewhat unsafe but who cares it's cheap and does the job!" department:

Well, it's got a remote, and it's got a motor, and it's $40. However, you'd also need some sort of trusty extraction mechanism to get it back out, but once you figure that out (I refrain from making the obvious suggestions so that I won't end up in "stuff I stuck up my butt 'cause of qDot" court), hey! It's $40! Other remote mechanisms sell for way more, and this has a DIRECTIONAL remote too! Nothing says lovin' like fucking with your partners sense of balance (assuming the motor is actually that strong and that you could feel the direction, but really, anything good with a remote used on someone standing should fuck with their sense of balance).
